Gruber's Trick

So that's what it is! I was wondering where the oddities (Dinosaurs in Jetpacks, oy) and links to two-entry brand-new blogs were coming from.

And now I wonder if your post is going to turn into the Home Of Daring Fireball Comments...

As the writer of the the "Dinosaurs" article I'd just like to point out that I in no way linked to Daring Fireball. Oy.
*chuckle* Well hello there, DF traffic.
DF Traffic here, look on th ebright side, I've bookmarked you though

This seems way too meta.
Haha, now the real question here is....who's the trickster now?
[this is good]
I used to enjoy DF's insightful views and relatively balanced critiques of Mac related news and happenings, but ever since the iPhone was released Gruber seems obsessed with it. Any identification of it's shortcomings are immediately met with a personal attack by Gruber, shortly followed by his assignment of the offender as 'Jackass of the Week'. The guy needs to pin his identity on something other than a gadget that will be obsolete in six months.
You've been Fireballed!
Kottke was right, Daring Fireball traffic really is a cut above Digg traffic. I'm not surprised, but I am impressed.

Gruber is a fucking douche. He is the epitome of Mac Fanboy. How fucking long is he going to rag on the guy who asked Steve Jobs about the "Intel Inside" stickers? Jesus Christ, get the fuck over it. You're life *can't* be that meaningless if you get a boner for this kind of stuff.

Jon, do me a favor: tonight when you're at the sushi bar with all the other wine sipping, web 2.0 blogroll pingback rss shitheads you associate with, and you are having a little chuckle about how some anonymous internet person bashed you, reflect-- even for a fleeting moment-- on the fact that you are a shallow egomaniac.

I can't believe I bought a T-shirt from that ass.

I've never really liked Daring Fireball. I have always thought his articles were way to wordy for what they were trying to say and he just seems to high and mighty to me.

I have to agree that his ranting on the Intel Inside question is just icing on the cake to me.

He may be a great person "in person". However, his web persona is just crap!
Gruber is overly critical and snobbish when it comes to Mac/iPhone topics, but that's the entire reason his blog is so fun to read! Do I actually think that people who critique Apple are jackasses? Of course not. But to me, the whole point of Daring Fireball is the shameless Apple fanboyishness. It's fun, engaging, and entertaining. A tame Gruber would be absolutely no fun to read.
Good job, Jon. I hope the extra clicks bleed over into bouquet and lot23 and my Vox. :D

Everyone knows to be a successful blogger you need to espouse "common sense" in leiu of fact-checking, write one-paragraph definitive summaries instead of 800-word articles, take market analysts at face value, promote anti-conformist values in the face of new trends, and promote personal ego over issues.

Gruber sucks.
