Don't Vote For Obama, White People Like Him

Comments

I saw this linked at digg. Sort of interesting how this author thinks Obama isn't really a "true" black person. Maybe this is part of the reason?
So what ... why do you care about a statistical poll that has, who knows what, margin of error? If you feel that Obama is the best choice for the U.S. Presidency then vote for him. If you feel someone else is, then vote for that person.

Somehow I don't think Jefferson or Hamilton or Washington for that matter cared that in 1776 most British subjects felt the colonies had no right to draft a Declaration of Independence, that is, if such a poll was actually taken at that time - I'm sure our current King George would loves the poll you mention.

I have no idea what you just said, dan_nl.
[this is good]
Kind of hard to compare the forefathers of our nation to todays vote.
Hi Jon,

The point is that we shouldn't base our vote on what a poll says about a candidate. We should base our vote on the substance of a candidate's positions in regards to whether or not we believe they will represent our opinion as closely as possible to how we would want our opinion represented in our government. Looking at a candidate's voting record is one way to verify this however a public opinion poll is definitely not.

You may have misunderstood what I was writing. The point of my post was that Obama was seeing reduced support amongst black voters because white people like him.

I noted this finding this made me and my wife "punch our pillows and gnash our teeth", because it seemed so silly and counterproductive.

That's the problem with polls ... were all brown (I've never seen a black person) people, eligible to vote, in the entire U.S. questioned? How many people answered the poll? What were the questions asked? Under what conditions were the questions asked?, etc.
I really hope the fact that most black people won't vote for obama because white people like him does not come as a shock.
